Students at the University of Maryland have the opportunity to become licensed Reactor Operators at the Maryland University Training Reactor. The training program takes place over the course of 2 semesters, one for lectures on reactor theory, procedures, and regulations, and one for hands on reactor operations. Classes begin each year in the Fall Semester. After the completion of the training program the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will come and administer a licensing exam. If you are interested in participating, please fill out our Interest Form. We highly recommend interested students take ENME 432, Reactor and Radiation Measurements.
