We have openings for 4 High School Interns for the following projects this summer:

• Project 1: Software Modification for a Portable Geiger Counter
  • Students will design a graphical user interface for the portable GQ GMC-500Plus Geiger Counter.  The interface will allow users to modify key parameters and download results for future analysis.  Students will confirm the usefulness of the program by testing it with jupyter notebook lab procedures.

• Project 2: Re-calibration of Film for Dosimetry
  • Students will develop a plan to calibrate our film dosimetry using an ion chamber and gamma radiation. Students will design and assemble a holder for repeated placement using either 3D printed or laser cut materials. Students will record and analyze results.

The internships will be from July 1st – July 31st with 20 hours of in-person work each week. Students will be paid $15/hr. Apply here by April 15th for best consideration.
